Continuing Professional Development Board

It is the purpose of the CPD Board to ensure that all members of the NIMH are maintaining excellent standards of professionalism and are receiving the necessary support in order to continue their work at the highest level. This support is achieved through close links with the Membership Awareness Group (MAG) which can in turn provide personal support via the regional groups. The CPD Co-ordinating Officer is also a member of the Education Committee. This position ensures that appropriate CPD seminars are provided and that there is a smooth transition from the Initial Professional Development Programme (IPDP) to the Continuing Professional Development Programme (CPDP).

The current role of the CPD Board is to administer and develop a new CPD programme. The new programme is being developed after withdrawing a twelve month pilot scheme which was intended to replace the previous programme. The Board are currently investigating the different approaches to the CPD programmes of various health professional associations. The Health Professions Council (HPC) is a statutory regulator that works to protect the health and well-being of people using the services of comparable health professionals. The NIMH standards will therefore meet their requirements. Please see the HPC website for more details www.hpc-uk.org

CPD Board consists of six NIMH members, a coordinator, two development officers and three liaison officers. Contact the CPD Board at info@nimh.org.uk
