Introduction
NIMH is committed to research. Herbal medicine has a traditional knowledge dating back thousands of years. Now modern research can only enhance that knowledge.
In order to practice effectively as medical herbalists we need to be proficient in a number of different disciplines (see diagram below). The NIMH regards the continuous professional development of its members as of the utmost importance, which means helping them to access up-to-date research in all areas which enhance the knowledge of the practice of herbal medicine. This ensures that NIMH herbalists are both safe and effective in their use of herbal medicines.
